One year

So today marks one year of my boy being in this world. He has really been a great source of joy for Camille and me. I thought I might reflect on life as a father, from my point of view at least.

Like when you B4 you get married people have many “words to the wise” to prepare you for this next step in life. In marriage people tell you to prepare to be come a “yes husband” and “get ready to loose your life.” That’s all crap.

Now having kids people said “life will never be your own at least for a while”-true, “your time with your wife will lesson A LOT”-true, “it’s the best thing you will ever do”-almost true.

See, I love being a Dad. I have dreamed of this day. Seriously. I have always wanted to be able to be a Dad to a boy. And now is my chance. My life could be described as a guy that was never great at anything. I was a decent baseball player, I am a pretty good guitarist, I am an OK husband, I am competitive when it comes to video games(unless I am playing my cousin Matthew, he always kills me, it started with tecmo bowl) so as you see I am the Jack of all trades but the master of none. I am not really an under achiever but I have never been considered an over achiever either. Now I want to be an over achiever, not because I want to find my identity in Leevs or I need him to be a “good Christian kid” to feel like I did my job. But I want to over achieve be cause I want him to know his daddy, I want his daddy to know him as well. I also want to over achieve because I want to provide him with every opportunity I can to use all the gifts God has given him.

I love playing with my boy. We wrestle, laugh, and really just enjoy each other. His smile makes any day better and his cry makes any heart break.

I really am getting sleepy and don’t want to write any more but I do want to say my hopes for my boy. In no order: I hope:
1) that we will provide a place for him to pursue and develop his passions and gifts
2) that we will show him that he will always be loved and nothing can change that
3) he knows its ok to be wrong, and that a man will admit that and ask for forgiveness
4) he will trust and treasure Jesus
5) he gives his life away to his friends and the world

I thought this post would be different than it ended up being but it is what it is.

Happy birthday buddy, your daddy loves you and is so excited to see where God places you in this world. Why did I just write that he will never read this. I mean I am sure by the time he is old enough to read blogs may not even be around.
Till next time

This Junk is Funny

I have this random thought that all people in old days were not funny or blunt. Martin Luther changes that thought with these quotes:
"I feel much freer now that I am certain the pope is the Antichrist."
"If I am not allowed to laugh in heaven, I don't want to go there."
"Make sure to send a lazy man the angel of death."
"Reason is a whore, the greatest enemy that faith has."
"The fewer the words, the better the prayer."

Started well and ended up just as good.

Well, Wednesday was a lot of fun hanging out with Big Al at Apostles. I really think I got some great ideas concerning how to do our sound a bit better without being able to buy new gear.
As I mentioned we went to the Braves game as well Wednesday. As I mentioned, the home team always wins when Matt, Vestal and myself go to games and this was no different.

Thursday I got some work done in the office and had Band practice that night. Our Friend Collins came to hang out with us and edit a video of her teams trip to Peru. We started last night at 9:30 p.m. went to bed at 2 am. We started again this morning at 8:30 a.m. and the DVD finished burning at 6:30 this evening. We stopped 20 minutes for lunch and that was it. It took roughly 14 hours to import, edit and burn the video. WOW I have forgotten how long videos take to make. Click here, to see the Podcast where I posted on my site. The video is to big to put on youtube. I think you will enjoy the video of their trip. God touched each life while they were on this trip. It was great to share in this mission if only through the video. I am very proud of all the teams that went somewhere for spring break. I just want to say to all the folks I have had the honor of ministering with: thanks for giving your lives away and thanks for showing me that there is hope in this world and that hope is Jesus. Thanks.

I am looking forward to Sunday. God is working in our church and I am praying that we would be apart of what he is doing in Athens and Oconee County.

And Levi is still doing great. We wrestle a lot now on the bed. I throw him into pillows, tickle him and body slam him on the bed. Man do we laugh, I love that kid.

So this week has already stared very fast and keeps on going.

Last night I was in Buford leading worship for a church plant, Church at the Mill, that my friend Chris Orr leads at. It was fun to go down to Buford with Justin and Lisa and lead with them. It is always hard to walk in some where and walk out, but its nice to do as well.

Today I want to Perimeter to talk with their worship arts and tech director concerning our sound equipment. It was a good thing to talk with them about gear and really share where we are and our vision for worship.

Tomorrow is a busy day at work because basically I have to have all my music stuff together for Sunday done tomorrow.

Wednesday I am going to Apostles to talk with their tech guy about gear as well, then I will be going to see the Braves play the Cubs with Vestal, Matt and Robert. Then coming back late to A-town. This will make the 4th baseball game with Matt and Vestal in the past 8 months and by the way, the home team has won every time.

So it’s a lot of driving for me this week.

Oh and some of you probably didn’t know since I haven’t blogged in a while that Levi has been sick, then was allergic to his medicine, got hives and inflated like professor clump (like gro’s foot did after being stung by a bee), was on steroids(not the cream or the clear, ladies that just went way over your heads), and today is back to normal. Life is good again in Levi’s world.
And we get to see our friend Collins on Thursday. Its started out as a great week and I must say it think its just getting started.

ramble of the day

Well I am pretty tired tonight which is strange because its only 11. So I will probably be in bed b4 12 tonight. I thought I might post about things I love(I am assuming you know I love my bride and my boy, I would hate to write a post and someone ask why they were not there):
1) Thinking about and talking about gear.
2) Getting lost in music, just a nice feeling.
3) Watching Camille be a mom, its really hot if I am being honest, I watched her play with Levi the other day and thought to my self about how lucky I am.
4) Learning that I really dependant I am on Jesus.
5) Laughing with Levi and Camille. Levi seriously is so funny.
6) Playing “that game” I honestly don’t know if anyone I play this game with even reads this blog but I love “that game”.
7) I am all about some Taco Bell Right now. Cheap and Good. Now don’t get me wrong I have always loved Taco Bell, actually since birth. I lived off of it in College.
8) This one is random but I have been all about some Publix Chocolate Ice Cream, strange but I have been all over it.
9) College Basketball has been incredible this year.
10) My ipod dying…oh wait I AM PISSED about that one.
11) So proud of all my friends that are over seas serving their savior this week.
12) Blogs, I am hooked.

Well this took me 42 min to write because I am watching worship from Church of the Apostles like I do most Sunday nights.
We had a great weekend with Amy Fritch and we also had a great Sunday today.
Ok I am out.
